A
decade of Green Globe Award
Initiated
in 1999, the Green Globe Award is the following project of the Reforestation
Project in honor of the 72nd Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty
the King. The project is a fruit of collaboration from high qualified
personnel from various sectors. It aims to support both individual
and groups of people who make both physical and mental effort and
a dedication to work on natural conservation and environment rehabilitation.
Their works deserve recognition as exemplary works for others.
From
its inception until present, there are a total of 249 of recipients
of awards in different categories: community; an individual person;
youth group; writing; youth writing; media, and "Sipanont Ketutad,
5 Years of Sustainability Award". The recipients still continue
their commitment to natural and environmental stewardship as well
as expand their network. Apart from the search of distinct environmental
works which deserve recognition, the Green Globe Award also supports
the knowledge sharing through organizing the Green Globe Network
Forum in both central and regional areas as well as a mobile "Green
Globe Friend" Project to promote information on forest management
in order to create a strong community network.
The
year 2008 marks the 10th anniversary of the Project, the first decade
of the growth alongside the good citizen who wants to commit good
deeds to the society.
It is one of the goals of this long working road ahead.
The
objectives of the award are to:
- Support
the creative works on natural conservation and environment rehabilitation
to increase more interest among public.
- Encourage
and acknowledge the effort of those who study or work of natural
and environmental conservation and rehabilitation.
- Collect
and promote publicity of knowledge on natural conservation and
environment rehabilitation works.
- Encourage
and inspire more public interest in an importance of natural conservation
and environment rehabilitation
- Make
positive changes of ideas, attitudes, and actions of the people
which lead to public participation in conserving and rehabilitating
the natural environment.
